    Short answer

A tabular CV with the newest experience first is a useful starting point for an Austrian application. Official guidance recommends a date and signature; birth details, citizenship, family status and a photo are voluntary. Follow the employer’s language, document and submission instructions.

DetailDate and signatureIn Aisha’s exampleLondon, date and a signature spaceFor your own CVAustrian government guidance recommends dating and signing the CV. Follow the employer’s submission instructions.

The example’s residence remains London. Vienna is the intended destination, not an address to claim before you move. See AMS guidance on CV structure for the recommended ordering.

Show what changed because of your work

One line in the example describes the outcome and keeps the team’s contribution visible:

Reduzierte mit dem Team die durchschnittliche Einrichtung neuer Kundenkonten von zehn auf sechs Tage.

In English: “Together with the team, reduced the average setup time for new customer accounts from ten days to six.”

For your own CV, name the work, your contribution and the outcome you can substantiate. If you do not have a reliable metric, describe the concrete change without inventing a number. This example’s figures belong to a fictional career.

The current role includes ongoing responsibilities and completed projects. That is why the German text uses different verb forms. Keep the meaning accurate instead of forcing every line into the same tense.

    Choose personal details deliberately

The Austrian government’s CV guidance lists a photo, birth details, citizenship and family information as voluntary. You can omit those fields; do not add them simply because a template has a space for them.

Aisha’s preview includes a clearly fictional portrait. A real application photo, if you choose to include one, should represent you accurately.

The same official guidance recommends a handwritten signature for a printed CV and, where possible, a scanned signature for a digital version. That is a recommendation, not a claim that every employer requires it. Use your own signature and the employer’s instructions.

    Check the application language separately

An application in Austria is not necessarily an application in German. Start with the requested language. AMS discusses English applications and their conventions, including omitting a photo; an English ad can indicate that English documents are expected.

The language of the ad does not settle every employer’s document requirements or your eligibility to work in Austria. If the instructions conflict or a requested document is unclear, ask the employer.

For the matching letter, see the Austrian application-letter example. For help understanding German phrasing, read the complete letter with English explanations.
